& Back Again
A story about change.
This show was about ten-year-old Hà, whose family flees from Vietnam to Alabama during the Vietnam War. The artistic director asked me for an illustration that would convey hope in a time of great change and transition. I chose to use a sunset color palette, and to show Hà in the moment of moving from one place to another. In the light side of the reflection, there are palm trees to represent Vietnam, and in the shadow there is an oak tree to represent Alabama. I also hand-lettered the font on the side of the boat, and designed other collateral for the production.
